"This is a beautiful place. It's so calming and relaxing, with the great view of the lake and chipmunks and birds outside the windows. The owners have put so much care into this place, and they stock it with so many amazing amenities (all the coffee stuff, the games, the park passes, etc.) - it's super impressive how much work they've put into it. And when we had a question, Elena responded FAST. So we were never left in need of a response for longer than a minute or so. So yes, this is a great place. Very comfortable, cozy, and beautiful. "This is a hidden gem! It is perfect for a family getaway or a friends getaway. There is something to do for all ages. Games, bird watching, nature, pool, speak easy. Loved how our host provided the essentials. We celebrated birthday and she was so sweet and left us a pin and some goodies. The Airbnb is secluded no close neighbors which is great. The enclosed hot tub is great especially for a gloomy rainy day! How far is SAVOR Paradise from Chicago? Do we need a car?
About 115 minutes from Chicago via the toll road — easy weekend territory. If you'd rather skip the drive, hop the South Shore Line train and Uber the last leg from the station. We recommend a car if you want to bounce between the dunes, local eateries, and our favorite spots, but it's not required.
What is there to actually do in Northwest Indiana?
A lot more than people expect — and it's different at each home. From Chesterton Retro Bird Retreat: Indiana Dunes National Park, birding, antiquing, and 1950s nostalgia experiences like Peggy Sue's Diner, The Port, and the 49er Drive-In Theatre. From Valparaiso Lakeside Retreat: the dunes, the 49er Drive-In, downtown Valpo's local eateries and shops, Valparaiso University, and nature in every direction.

Is it worth visiting year-round, even off-season or in bad weather?
Absolutely. Both homes are open year-round and built for any season — including rainy days. Each property has plenty to do indoors, so you're never stuck staring at the ceiling. Off-season also means quieter trails, dramatic dunes, and our best direct-booking rates.
Which beach is the best?
Depends on your vibe. We share our personal beach picks (and our favorite quiet spots locals don't tell you about) directly with every guest after booking. There's a difference between the National Park beaches and the State Park — and we'll help you find the one that fits your trip.
